Our morning and day classes are ideal for those who like to practise Ikebana even if you have a busy schedule.

Morning classes are £30 and day classes are £50. You will also need to purchase the flowers separately which can cost anything up to £20 extra.

I am give you an introduction to the art of Ikebana. You will learn a little bit about the history of Ikebana, and some of the general principles. You will get stuck into some of the first styles and designs whilst learning as you go.

Hana Mai is a sculpture as opposed to a flower arrangement and the name translates to ‘dancing flowers’. Hana Kanade is a new arrangement designed by the new headmaster and involves crossing lines. Rimpa for senior students. Advanced Hana Isho, One Row and Circular for beginners and above.

‘Rimpa’ is not a flower arrangement, its the recreation of a painting with plant material engaging techniques and styles for advanced students. The particular features of Rimpa, a traditional Japanese art style, put emphasis on nature. The use of vibrant colours, and layering techniques create a sense of depth and richness in the artwork. Additionally, the portrayal of seasonal changes and the concept of wabi-sabi, embracing imperfections, further enhance the timeless beauty and tranquility of Rimpa art. The Rimpa arrangement will incorporate the materials in the paintings which you will get to know in this class. For beginners and above, we will look at Hana Isho, One Row and Circular. Moribana - Upright, Slanting and Water Reflecting

Created by the Ohara School, we will look at all of the Moribanas, the upright, the slanting and water reflecting. The ‘Moribana’ progresses to three lines and 3 materials. Upright Moribana: typically features materials arranged in a straight, upward direction. Slanting Moribana: in contrast to the straight lines of Upright Moribana, Slanting Moribana features materials arranged diagonally or at an angle. This arrangement conveys a sense of movement and dynamism, suggesting natural elements like wind or flowing water. Water Reflecting Moribana: Inspired by the reflection of objects in water, this form aims to create a serene and harmonious composition. Materials are arranged low in the container, with some extending horizontally over the waterline. You will get to know the different features and characteristics of the designs and put these into action by creating your own arrangement.

"Heika" is a basic style of Ikebana in a tall pot. There are 3 methods of Heika, upright slanting and cascading.
